A People’s Hearing:
Pass the Chicago Clean Power Ordinance!

Chicago has yet to agree to set a date for a committee hearing to take testimony on the need to clean up or shut down two of the oldest and dirtiest plants in the country.  So…we’ve decided to hold our own!

February 2, 2011
121 N La Salle
City Council Chambers, 2nd Floor
Chicago, IL
10:00 AM until all testimony is taken

It’s time to hold Mayor Daley accountable for the continued operation of these two plants that spew tons of soot and millions of tons of CO2 into the air each year.  Is this how the “green mayor” of one of the greatest cities in the world wants to be remembered as he leaves office?  Or, will he do the right thing, and support an official hearing before the Committee on Health and Committee on Energy, Environmental Protection and Public Utilities.  The chairs of each committee need a “green light” from Chicago’s mayor to schedule a joint committee hearing.

Can’t attend the hearing?  Then please call 311, ask for the Mayor’s office, and leave a message for Mayor Daley, asking him to support an official hearing on the Chicago Clean Power Ordinance. Then, call 311 again and ask for Alderman Rugai.  Tell her she needs to act responsibly before leaving office by scheduling an official hearing in February 2011.
