Living Into a OneEarth Story

Living Into a OneEarth Story

Looking for an uplifting complement to Wellington’s recent series on climate change?

Next Monday, May 4th at 6:00 P.M. Lee Van Ham and Dan Swanson from Jubilee Economics Ministries will be speaking at Wellington UCC about the power of living into a OneEarth story amid the overwhelming powers continuing to perpetuate climate crisis.

Lee is a former Presbyterian pastor and the author of “Blinded by Progress”, the first in a trilogy addressing the moral and spiritual call to rethink our relationship with the earth. Dan, a former Chicagoan, and his wife Angelica now live in Mexico, where they work with indigenous communities and serve as a liaison for people interested in “opening the eyes” immersions to Mexico.

Speaking from a contemporary perspective of the biblical jubilee, Lee and Dan will share how a new story is coming together and empowering people to live within the magnificent evolutionary, creational processes of one planet’s capacities.

JEM, now located in San Diego, California, got its start in Chicago in 2000 when a small group of clergy, social activists and laypeople interested in social and environmental justice began exploring the relevance of the Biblical Jubilee in today’s world. Our own organization, Eco-Justice Collaborative had its genesis through an affiliation with JEM. Check out the their website at www.jubilee-economics.org and join the conversation next Monday night. The evening will be hosted by the WAUCC Outreach Committee.
