Presenting the Case for a Coal Severance Tax – Montgomery County

29 March, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Montgomery County Board Coordinating Committee

March 29, 2016, 10 am
Montgomery County Courthouse, Hillsboro, Illinois

On March 21, 2016, Pam and Lan Richart , Eco-Justice Collaborative, and others from the Community Futures Initiative will talk with representatives of the Montgomery County Board about the benefits of  an Illinois Coal Severance Tax.  Deer Run Mine is located in Montgomery County.

Revenues collected, for the most part, would be paid by out-of -state consumers; would not affect production or result in a loss of jobs.  Funds collected could be used for  economic development,  workforce training; environmental cleanup, or infrastructure expansion or repairs.
