Vermilion County Conservation District Turns 50

The Vermilion County Conservation District Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary, June 11-12

The celebration will last two days with events on Saturday June 11th occurring at the Palmer Civic Center. From 1-4pm the arena will be open, free to the public to visit with numerous conservation and wildlife organization friends and partners that include the:

  • Illinois Native Plant Society
  • Illini Walnut Council,
  • Macon County Conservation District
  • Eco-Justice Collaborative
  • Vermilion Advantage
  • Pheasants Forever
  • Vermilion Soil and Water
  • Decatur Raptor Center

Later that evening, they will host a celebration banquet from 6-8 p.m., including heavy appetizers, hors d’oeuvres and a multitude of raffle prizes. That evening, a celebration banquet will be held for $30/person with a special ‘secret’ program, hors d’oeuvres, and raffle drawings. Tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center Box Office or the staff offices of Kennekuk and Forest Glen.

On Sunday, June 12, all four parks will host an open house from 1-4pm. Displays, guided hikes, refreshments, pontoon boat rides, activities and more will be a part of the festivities at Forest Glen, Heron, Kennekuk, and Lake Vermilion.
