Can you support EJC and our work?
Today our nation and its environmental future are facing an incredible challenge. Landmark environmental regulations are under attack, and large corporations and their vested interests are wielding immense power, eager to undo decades of environmental progress. And, as the impacts of climate change continue to grow, our federal government is doubling down on its support for fossil fuels.
While it is easy to become discouraged, now more than ever, we are called to step up the fight. There is too much at stake.
2026 marks the 19th year since we launched EJC. While initially we focused on education and awareness raising around issues of environmental sustainability, we soon realized that creating change required more than awareness. Over the years, we gradually became effective in mobilizing people, organizing communities, and building coalitions with the power to make positive changes in our world.
With the support from folks like yourself and the power of people coming together, we have been able to achieve more than we ever thought possible.
Illinois is now one of the few states in the nation with regulations governing the disposal of toxic coal ash, one of only a handful of states with environmental protections for carbon capture and sequestration, and now a state with a ban prohibiting the storage of high-pressure CO₂ under Illinois’ only sole-source aquifer.
As large corporations continue to flood Illinois with proposals for mega-data centers, carbon capture, transport, and storage projects, and the fossil fuel plants to power them, EJC is continuing its efforts to give communities the right to know and the tools to protect themselves. As you will see on the back of this letter, we have come a long way, but we need your help in the months ahead.
Today we are asking you to stand with us. With the changes in the political environment, some funders are moving away from climate and energy work. This makes additional private donations even more important.
If you have made a contribution to EJC recently, we sincerely thank you! If you have not, we ask that you consider making a tax-deductible gift today. Your support is now more important than ever. Just click here to donate, or write a check, payable to Eco-Justice Collaborative, and send it to 919 W. University Ave., Champaign, Illinois.
Thank you! Together we can continue to make a difference.
