Joanna Macy – The Gifts of Uncertainty
This is a wonderful, inspirational video of a plenary given byJoanna Macy, at the 2009 National Bioneers Conference held in San Rafael, CA.
Drawing from deep ecology, systems theory and spiritual traditions, Dr. Macy builds motivation, creativity, courage and solidarity for the transition to a sustainable human culture.
If we can free ourselves from the delusions and dependencies bred by the industrial growth society, something wonderful can happen. If we manage to steer clear of panic, we may well find at last the wild power of our creativity and solidarity.
Here is a sneak preview of the five gifts:
- The gift of the present moment.
- The gift of fresh recognition of the power of intention.
- The gift of befriending our pain.
- The gift of our solidarity with all our relations.
- The gift of an immensity of time.
This is an incredibly hopeful, yet realistic way to look at where we are as an earth community – and how we, as humans, face the crises before us. We hope you will take time to watch!
